In April 2008, East Meets West welcomed a special guest to our offices in Vietnam: Mr. Lenny Sands, CEO/Chairman and Founding Partner of Alchemy Worldwide LLC. Not only is Lenny is an innovator and leader in the direct response television (DRTV) marketplace, responsible for products such as the world-famous Magic Bullet blender, but he is also a personal donor to the Operation Healthy Heart program.

Lenny and his associates spent several days in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City touring the sights and meeting with top business leaders. In addition, Lenny toured the Children’s Hospital #1 in Ho Chi Minh City, where many of the OHH heart operations take place. EMW is assisting the hospital in its efforts to renovate and upgrade its cardiac ward in addition to training surgeons and providing equipment.

Upon his arrival in Ho Chi Minh City, Lenny was enthusiastically greeted at the Park Hyatt Hotel by several of the children who received lifesaving heart surgery thanks to his generous donation. The children presented him with flowers and an OHH hat as a small token of their appreciation, and Lenny responded by pledging continued support for the program. The welcome was especially moving, as the children were finally able to give their thanks face-to-face with the man who gave them a second lease on life. The shirts the children welcomed Lenny with said it all: We love Lenny!
