East Meets West has an unequalled track record in developing education facilities in poor, marginalized and ethnic minority areas of Vietnam. EMW has built facilities ranging from small Early Childhood Care and Education Centers with two rooms to the 12-story English Language Training Facility in Da Nang and the Thai Nguyen Medical University for ethnic minorities in northern Vietnam.

Education is a priority in Vietnam because it is a crucial building block for the country's economical and social future. Many children are deprived of an education because there are not enough schools in Vietnam, especially in rural areas where over 70 percent of the nation's population lives.

As Vietnam moves from an agricultural society into an industrial one, the transition is stressing the education system at all levels. The Vietnamese government simply does not have enough money to meet the demand for the construction of new schools and the replacement of dilapidated ones that are unsafe for use.

That is where East Meets West steps in. East Meets West strives to create access to basic education for students in rural and underserved areas so they can participate in the emerging economy. We close the educational gap by funding the construction and renovation of early childhood education centers, elementary schools and a series of large facilities that serve universities in Vietnam.

EMW's school building programs consists of these components:

Early Childhood Care and Education Centers: Early childhood education is considered essential in preparing a child for a lifetime of learning inside and outside the classroom. EMW is building new ECCE centers that incorporate tactile and interactive learning to encourage sensory and intellectual development.

Primary Schools: EMW replaces old, rundown classrooms with new functional, ventilated, well-lit and spacious classrooms at primary schools to give impoverished and underpriveleged students a chance to learn in a safe aend encouraging environment.

Kon Ray Ethnic Minority Boarding School: Funded by USAID, East Meets West is building a large boarding school to serve ethnic minority students in Kon Tum province in Vietnam's central highlands.

Large Construction Projects focused on education: Funded by Atlanitic Philanthropies, EMW has built a series of very large facilities over the last 10 years that serve Vietnam's higher education facilities.
