Overview of Position
East Meets West Foundation, the leading non-governmental development agency in Vietnam, is seeking a country director to manage and develop its programs and projects in six or more offices in northern and central Vietnam. Position supervises 80 staff members and oversees annual budget of approximately $20 million, of which $15 million is spent on infrastructure construction.
Main Duties. Supervise, evaluate staff performance, oversee fiscal management and planning. Direct program implementation in four core areas: clean water & sanitation; education; pediatric health; and infrastructure construction. Initiate new and expand existing programs, develop project and program objectives. Supervise development of annual workplans, including budgets. Maintain positive working environment and conduct regular staff meetings. Make decisions concerning projects, expenditures, and personnel, and manage budget compliance. Liaise with government agencies and NGOs. Ensure compliance with donor requirements. Provide program and financial reports to the Oakland, CA headquarters office to assist in strategic planning, and to donors and government agencies as requested.
Qualifications. Advanced degree in international development, health, public administration, engineering, or related field preferred. Substantial overseas international development experience managing multidisciplinary team required. Demonstrated experience: working with donors and funding agencies; forming effective relationships with local agencies in a developing country; building high-performing teams. Excellent written and oral English; competency in Vietnamese highly desirable. Frequent travel required.
